Gushing Product Testing

  • Purpose:
    This testing helps identify possible root causes of gushing or exploding products. This tests for beer, kombucha, non-alcoholic, RTD beverages, and more. Please specify in the paperwork what type of product and what issues you are seeing.

    Please Note:
    • Do not send in glass bottles for this panel. Samples may be refunded if deemed too dangerous.
    • This test pricing is per 1 can; please specify if more than 1 sample needs to be tested.

    • Wallerstein Nutrient Media
    • Lin's Cupric Sulfate Media - For STA1+ yeast detection through Microbiological Plating
    • Schwarz Differential Agar
    • Hsu's Lactobacillus & Pediococcus Media
    • Oxalate Crystals Observation - Pictures will be included
    • Alcohol & Extract values

    Samples are plated on American Society of Brewing Chemists (ASBC) approved media to identify spoilage organisms. The service also includes a gram stain and the identification of any contaminants via microscopy. LS6705 Genetic identification can be added for an additional cost.
