I've brewed with this yeast twice and loved the results.
I made an American Dark Lager with a dry yeast and the WLP940. The one fermented with WLP940 really let the roasted malts shine. It took 1st place in a large competion for dark lagers. I will be rebrewing this summer for the MCAB XVII.
I also brewed a Baltic Porter for the afformentioned competition with a friend. We split a 10 gallon batch and pitched different yeasts. I went with the Mexican while he used the Zurich. The Mexican came out with dark fruit esters and was the better of the two batches. It took 3rd out of 24 Baltic Porter entries even though it was very young...8 weeks from grain to competition. It is even better now after proper lagering. I will be entering my final bottles into another competition to see how it compares.
If you want a malty lager, this is your yeast.
