Description
Offered jointly by the Siebel Institute of Technology and White Labs, the Essential Quality Control course presents a full range of topics related to producing beers of consistently high quality.
This course will cover the most important aspects of an in-house QC program including:
· raw materials assessment
· testing wort/beer in production
· sensory training and evaluation
· analytical and microbiological testing
· bacteria detection and identification
· sampling techniques
Lectures dealing in the sciences behind the practice are enhanced by practical hands-on lab exercises at White Labs. You will learn the procedures, tools and standards which have been designed and tested by such organizations as the Association of Brewing Chemists (ASBC) and the European Brewing Congress (EBC).

The Essential Quality Control course is conducted at White Labs in San Diego, CA, home to one of America’s most vibrant brewing scenes. The facility offers not only an excellent learning environment, but also houses its own brewery and restaurant featuring wood-fired pizzas and other beer-friendly foods. When students roam off campus, San Diego features world-class breweries nearby, an amazing culinary and beer scene, magnificent beaches and a vibrant downtown 15 miles from the facility. Students traveling to the area may want to take some extra time to enjoy all San Diego has to offer.

Prerequisites
All students applying for a program, module or course must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age. For this course, prior brewing knowledge is not required, but students will benefit from existing knowledge of brewing technologies and/ or related sciences.
